Review: Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality

Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality
Title: Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality
Author: Elizabeth Eulberg
Publisher: Point
Pages: 272
Everybody loves Lexi. She's popular, smart, funny...but she's never been one of those girls, the pretty ones who get all the attention from guys. And on top of that, her seven-year-old sister, Mackenzie, is a terror in a tiara, and part of a pageant scene where she gets praised for her beauty (with the help of fake hair and tons of makeup).

Lexi's sick of it. She's sick of being the girl who hears about kisses instead of getting them. She's sick of being ignored by her longtime crush, Logan. She's sick of being taken for granted by her pageant-obsessed mom. And she's sick of having all her family's money wasted on a phony pursuit of perfection.

The time has come for Lexi to step out from the sidelines. Girls without great personalities aren't going to know what hit them. Because Lexi's going to play the beauty game - and she's in it to win it.

Review:

Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality is a book I think all teenage girls should read. It covers the important topic, that is not discussed enough, of girls feeling the need to get all dressed up and covered in make up to be able to get accepted by their peers.
The book falls the main character Lexi, a high school girl, whose mom and little sister are obsessed with doing pageants. Even being around the pageant world does not make lexi want to try on makeup and do her hair but that changes when her best friend Benny makes her dress up for one week of school. Once she starts dressing up the popular crowd, which she refers to as the beautiful ones, start paying attention to her. And in result Lexi gets sucked into their world wanting the acceptance that comes with being one of them. But soon Lexi will find out that being in their crowd isn't as great as it may seem and just being herself is the most beautiful thing she could be.
The main character Lexi really was my favorite part of the book she had a very strong confident tone about her and also could be rather humorous at times. In this book lexi proves that you can be your own hero and I think she a great role model for everyone showing that you are strong enough to overcome any obstacle and that being yourself is the best thing for you.
This was a great read that I recommend to all girls out their no matter what their age.

4 stars!
